Hi! My name is Pieter-Jan Depauw. I’m 28 years old and live in Leuven, Belgium. I’ve always been deeply interested in sports. Growing up I did a little gymnastics, basketball, tennis, beach volleyball, triathlon, weightlifting, track and field, CrossFit, … You name it, I’ve probably tried it.

I went to KU Leuven university to study Physiotherapy. After an extra year in Management and Applied Economics, I came to realize I just wanted to get people fit and improve their quality of life. That’s when I joined My Personal Coach Leuven and started training people. Right away, I knew I did the right thing! It is a true privilege to be able to be part of someone’s road to improved health and fitness, and an honour to have them include me on that journey. I’ve recently also started my own business called 3-2-1-Fit.

As a personal trainer, I get in contact with people who mostly tell me the same thing: “I tried to get fit, but I quickly reverted back to my old habits”. Some of the most common reasons for that are:

  • lack of time to train because of the children/job/…
  • no training partners
  • old or new injuries
  • lack of motivation/energy
  • bad nutrition

If this sounds familiar, you’ve come to the right place. The blog will cover these common problems and give you tips to get over them. In this way, I hope I can inspire you and help you kickstart your road to a healthier and fitter version of yourself. And if you want, I can guide you along with personal coaching.

So there you go! Happy training!

Life motto: “Impossible is possible if you put your mind into it and don’t give up.”

If you would ask 20 people what the first thing is that pops up in their mind when they hear the name “Yentl”, then 18 out of the 20 times you might get  a response that is related to sports. Not surprisingly, knowing that I’ve always been very active in sports. This has not changed so far. If I’m not doing sports, I’m either working behind the desk at JIMS fitness, or I’m busy making (sport)nutrition plans.

Athletics has always been my great passion, with absolute preference for the 800m and javelin. A combination that seemed very bizarre to many, to me, however, very normal. I like the feeling of going hard , going “all in”. However, disciplines (eg javelin) which require a lot of technique and strength trigger me too. So the fact that after 20 years of athletics, I fell in love with CrossFit is not so unexpected. In this sport, everything is coming together; strength, technique, endurance, mental strength, cleverness, … . Briefly said, it’s a combination of everything that excites me.

The passion for my sport was already inside me at a young age. At the age of 16, I went to the top sports school. There I experienced that (top)sport was much more than just training. It’s a lifestyle. Therefore my passion/fascination for athletics expanded quickly to all aspects that had an influence on my performance. I tried to learn as many as possible from my supervisors; coaches, psychologists, manual therapists, …. These conversations made me realize: THIS is what I want.

I chose my studies and courses in order to pursue my dream: acquire knowledge to become the best athlete I could be as to guide others as best as possible in pursuing a healthy lifestyle. A lifestyle where physical activity, nutrition and a good mindset are centered. Motivating people, inspiring them, giving them that extra push they need to reach their goal = I love it!

A few years of education later, I am active as an independent dietician, fitness coach, resident in a student residence and as a personal trainer. So… all ready for it!
